In other news…

A few good things have happened since I was newly incarcerated and trimmed neatly beneath the knee.

First, Iv’e made a couple of new friends. Some folks have made an effort to travel out to bumfuck Brooklyn and visit me- Colin and some of the ladies of Rapture -, most notably Mistresses Sade and Ardenne; S Bear Bergman (Whose book “Butch is a Noun” is amazing, and is a pretty spectacular spoecimen his own damn self, sparkytheboi who is way too smart for his own good, but is pleasure to try to keep up with, and most notably to me- njlexi.

When I woke up from surgery, she was there, knitting. I hardly knew her, but there she was, waiting for me to come out of it. Since then she has showed herself to be a very dedicated friend. Thank you, Lexi.

I am also lucky enough to see Ken Soulhuntre and Lone_Wolf regularly, both of whom have gone out of their way to take care of me and keep me company. Thank you, droogs.I was born without brothers, it’s a privelige to have them now.

To cap it off, I have a story running in the latest issue of Heavy Metal. This is a big deal in the graphic arts world, as it’s circulation is a quarter of a million worldwide, beating the hell out of Batman, X Men or any other comic; not only that, they want more stories from my team and I.

So- I’m writing again, I’m drawing again for the first time in years. To me, it was worth the foot.

  1. I feel that there is a humorism in there somewhere. Something about the cost of notoriety, fame, recognition, what have you. But I ain’t gonna go there right now. 8-}

  2. I always knew you’d get published. You’re too damn talented to not go that route. Are you sprung yet?

  3. congrats on being published. you definitely earned that. may this just be a start to all good things coming your way. you deserve nothing less.

  4. I’ll be sure to seek out that issue then for it will be my honor to see your work in print. I had heard about this from sulis as well.

  5. Oh, hell no.

    I still have weeks- well, maybe months, if the phys therapy does not go well.
    This place is better than that hellhole Cobble Hill, but living in a geriatric home really sucks withered hairy balls. So to speak. And I am stuck here for weeks yet.

    :sigh:

  6. Fabulous news all around – congratulations on your publication & your improved health. The internets is a better place now that you are back. My heart is lifted knowing you have good friends around you to watch your back and take care of your most important needs. (no internet? gads!) My hat is off to those who have helped provide for you during this most trying of times.

    Damn good to have you back online, & even better knowing that you are suffering less.

  7. I am staying in Brooklyn this week, til Tuesday afternoon… any way I could come by and poke you, say, Tuesday morning? Just an idea… asking as I can’t find your #.
